M20 Closure - Friday 27 July 2018 to Sunday 29 July 2018. For the removal of the Teapot Lane Footbridge as part of the Smart Motorway works.
Highways England have announced that the M20 motorway between junctions 4 Leybourne and 5 Aylesford will be closed in both directions from 22:00 on Friday 27 July until the work is completed at a time to be confirmed on Sunday 29 July.
The Highways England planned diversion route from junction 4 is north along the A228 through Snodland, Halling and Cuxton to the M2, the M2 to Bluebell Hill then the A229 to re-join the M20 at junction 6 Maidstone. Motorway traffic from junction 6 will travel in the reverse direction to junction 4.
The roads in this area are likely to become extremely congested during this weekend. The new Medway Bridge at Wouldham provides a cut through to the M2 that could impact on the villages of Burham, Wouldham and Eccles up  into Medway.
The Highways England recommended route for pedestrians to cross the motorway once the Teapot Lane footbridge is removed, is diversion via Station Road, which crosses the M20 approximately 450m to the west of the footbridge and Robson Drive.
Please see the Highways England link for more information https://highwaysengland.co.uk/projects/m20-junctions-3-to-5-smart-motorway/

Eccles Skateboard Park was looking very tired so the Council decided it was now time to replace it as it was felt that no more repairs could be carried out. It was after all 10 years old and very well used. After a site meeting with Urban Ramps to view the existing equipment and size of the site they drew up some designs for us. The Council picked one that they thought was best suited to those who would be using it and then carried out a consultation on site with the proposed plans so local users could have some input as well and this way the Council could make sure that the proposed new Skateboard Park was the type of thing they want. It is now finished and feedback from local users has been extremely positive. The Council received a "Thank You" card from local users, which was a lovely gesture.
